Optionally, you can try to recover additional repaired items from the backup personal folder. You can use the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) to repair corrupted Personal Folders (.pst) and Outlook Data (.ost) files. This is useful when your OST file is relatively big (more than 5 GB) and it would take a long time to recreate it. Also, it can be useful when you are getting errors when importing data from a PST file.

If you can open the original Outlook Data File, you might be able to recover additional items. The Inbox Repair tool creates a backup file with the same name as the original, but with a .bak extension, and saves it in the same folder. There may be items in the backup file that you might be able to recover that the Inbox Repair tool couldn't.

If you decide you don't want the calendar you created, right-click the calendar and select Remove. To show or hide the Folders list, select Show or Hide the navigation pane. Calendar events can be used for your own personal event, or you can invite others Outlook Fix resource center to create an in-person or Teams meeting. If you want to fix PST files using this tool, make sure to have a proper backup of the Outlook PST before processing. You can use the Inbox Repair tool (SCANPST.EXE) to diagnose and repair errors in your Outlook data file. The Inbox Repair tool checks the Outlook data files on your computer to see if they're in good shape. If you can't start the Inbox Repair tool automatically or manually, you may try to repair your Office application. If you do not see the files in the default locations above, you can use Outlook to identify the file location. When you are online, Outlook synchronizes the data in the OST file with the Outlook Fix resource center Exchange Server, ensuring that you have the most up-to-date information.

Occasionally, classic Outlook tries to run a process in the background. Auto-archive, sending and receiving a very large attachment, or running some of the other mailbox tools can all be done in the background. Check the status bar at the bottom of the screen to see if another process is running. If so, wait a short time (usually two or three minutes) to see if Outlook starts working again. If you can't choose any of the menu options, type inside an email message, calendar event, or contact, Outlook may have Outlook Fix resource center frozen.

MAPI does not validate that a provider's DLL that it is requested to load is registered correctly in MapiSVC.inf or even that Outlook Fix resource center it comes from the local machine.
